Join us for our latest Exeter Centre for Circular Economy webinar: “How Standards of Good Practice Accelerate Trust in the Circular Economy”.

Recent research from the British Standards Institution (BSI), in partnership with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, has highlighted the critical tipping point at which trust in circular practices is established – a point that can unlock widespread adoption and accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

With resources under increasing pressure, businesses must develop new skills and foster cross-functional collaboration to embed innovation across product development and operations. To achieve impact at scale, a shared language and agreed rules of engagement are essential.

Standards such as BS 8001 provide the clarity, consistency, and comparability needed to build confidence in the quality and sustainability of circular practices, enabling organisations to align strategies and accelerate circular adoption.

This session will explore how standards of good practice can enhance trust, support innovation, and drive systemic change across sectors.

Speakers

Sara Walton – Circularity & Net Zero Lead, BSI
Sara co-led BSI’s study on accelerating circular adoption with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and supports SMEs with sustainability needs, including the recent publication of BSI Flex 3030: Net Zero Transition Plans for SMEs.

David Fatscher – Interim Head of Standards (Sustainability & ESG), BSI
David leads BSI’s programme of sustainability and ESG standards, including the development of tools to improve ESG performance and awareness of IWA 48, ISO’s new guidance on embedding ESG into organisational culture.

Host

Professor Peter Hopkinson – Co-Director, Exeter Centre for Circular Economy

Join the CE-Hub as we guide you through the CE Roadmap Dashboard for its official launch.

In this webinar, Dr Halid Abu-Bakar guided the audience through the Dashboard’s functionality and shared the research he undertook to develop the platform.

The Dashboard provides an expansive view of global CE roadmapping activities. It maps out the core features of the roadmaps that various countries and cities have developed. These core features were extracted and integrated into dashboard variables through the use of a natural language processing.

Users can explore specific aspects of roadmaps, such as the types of roadmaps, motivations, and the key priority areas set by various countries. The Dashboard also incorporates certain performance metrics such as, material productivity, and domestic material consumption, drawn from global sources and agencies, including the OECD, the World Bank and the FAO. This tool aims to provide insight into the prevailing dynamics and future course of global CE roadmapping.

You can access the Dashboard on our Knowledge Hub here.
