DICE Network+

The three-year, EPSRC funded Digital Innovation and Circular Economy (DICE) Network+ launched in January 2025 and will realise a transformative shift in the sustainability and circularity of digital and communication technologies, leveraging the power of the digital revolution to drive a circular economy across sectors and value chains. By adopting a ‘Network of Networks’ approach, harnessing interdisciplinary collaboration, research, and technological innovation, our network is a beacon for change, inspiring and guiding industries, governments, and communities towards a digitally enabled sustainable and circular economy.

Taking a ‘Network of Networks’ approach, the DICE Network+ to capture the full power, reach and influence of the Network’s partner universities (Exeter, Sheffield, Salford, Swansea, Southampton, Surrey, Nottingham, Queens University Belfast, and the Open University), industry partners (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, AMRC, Digital Catapult, British Computer Society, SAP, BASF, Wabtec, eBay, BSI), and leading UKRI-funded projects (Faraday Institution, Royce Institute, NICER Programme, Pro2, and Connected Everything Networks). These collaborators will gain from new knowledge, tools, and methodologies; opportunities for knowledge exchange; and funding for projects that promote the adoption of a digitally enabled CE.

The DICE Network+ will address two key challenge areas:

  • Embed: Embedding sustainability and circularity within digital and communication technologies.
  • Enable: Realising the potential of the digital revolution to enable a circular economy.

This will be achieved through a series of interdisciplinary engagement and collaboration opportunities across four key pillars of activity with planned activities to include a 10-year vision and roadmap, knowledge repository, knowledge exchange placements, roadshows and webinars, plus feasibility studies and demonstrator calls.
